Flexid 9 Dongle Driver Windows 7: Comparison with Other Drivers

If your Active-HDL, Riviera-PRO, ALINT, HES/DVM or Netlist Converter licenseis issued for a USB FLEXid keylock or dongle (license file contains referenceto "flexid=9" in the server line), installing the drivers may be necessary. Read Verifying Driver Installation below to check if you need to install the driver.

Flexid 9 Dongle Driver Windows 7

"Cadence License Server Configuration utility has detected that it needs to install the FLEXid 9 dongle driver on your system. Please make sure to connect your FLEXid USB dongle to an available USB port. The driver installation process may take a few minutes. Click OK to continue or Cancel to terminate the Cadence License Server Configuration utility"

"- Unable to restart Cadence License Server with the new license file "..... ". Failed to install FLEXid dongle driver. Failed to update your CDS_LIC_FILE license path with the new license server setting "....".

Fast forward... June 2020, I installed the same software on a new computer I recently assembled running on the latest Windows 10 update. I went through the above License Server configuration process and when it got to the step where it says that the FLEXid 9 dongle driver needs to be installed, I clicked "OK" as usual. However this time after just a few seconds of clicking "OK", the system rebooted. This process is repeatable and the system will just reboot at this step on the process. The FLEXID information is blank on the System Settings at LMTOOLS which gives me the impression that the dongle is not installed and the information from it could not be retrieved.

- Query the registry location "Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WIBU-SYSTEMS\WIBU-KEY\General\CurrentVersion\Version" OR - Once the dongle driver is installed, run the executable named Wku32.exe (on Windows - C:\Program Files (x86)\WIBUKEY\Bin) and under Linux and MacOS "wku". Output from Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\WIBUKEY\Bin>wku32.exe wku32 - WibuKey User Universal Support Tool. wku32 Version 6.51 of 2019-Apr-02 (Build 3477) for Win32. It looks like hasplms.exe is packaged with the flexera dongle driver installer. So if hasplms was updated then the version reported by hasplms.exe could change. So to expand and elaborate on the OP's question:

I agree. So do you think its safe to say that "FLEXID-9 dongle drivers are installed" if we find all the packages listed by "haspdinst.exe -info" on the system? And probably something similar for FLEXID-10 dongles?Or is there a better way to detect that?

Installer: The following table lists those operating systems for which FLEXid dongle support exists along with a link to the appropriate installer. Download all installers appropriate to your implementation. Each installer contains all FLEXid dongle drivers supported by the particular platform.

Answer: Flexera does not recommend using FLEXID (dongle) hostids for license servers (such as the Synopsys SCL license server) running in virtual machines. This is because there are two separate third-party layers where an issue could occur: the dongle driver and the hypervisor USB-passthrough feature. Bugs in either of these layers could not be fixed directly by Synopsys or Flexera.

The supplied dongle will be either a FlexID-9 (green) or FlexID-10 (blue) USB key, each of which requires its accompanying license file (*.lic) in order to run XFdtd. Before the licensing software will recognize the USB key, driver software must be downloaded and installed on the machine.

Prior to using your dongle-based licenses you must install a dongle driver. If you have counted license keys, the Synopsys Common Licensing software must also be installed and started. (Uncounted keys do not require SCL. However, uncounted keys cannot be used over a remote desktop connection.)

DonglesIf your locking method is a dongle, attach the dongle to the appropriate parallel or USB port of the computer before you begin the installation. Click Cancel when the Windows generated Found New Hardware dialog appears. The dongle drivers will automatically install during the License Manager Installation.

For portable licenses where a USB dongle key is required, the computer running SIMetrix or SIMetrix/SIMPLIS must have the dongle device driver installed. Typically the device driver is installed automatically alongside SIMetrix and SIMetrix/SIMPLIS and no additional manual installation is necessary.
